British Airways Continues to Red List Destination and now it’s Dubai!
Dubai, one of the most popular destinations for British travelers, has been placed on the UK (United Kingdom) red list. It means that direct Flights to Dubai have ended, and there will be strict self-isolation rules for arrivals. Transport secretary Grant Shapps said the UAE (United Arab Emirates) had been added to the 30 existing countries that are currently banned.
How will it affect you?
From Friday 29th January, travelers' flights to/from Dubai or Abu Dhabi have been banned from the UK (United Kingdom). The move is causing chaos for many travelers who wish to return from or through the UAE (United Arab Emirates) and many British expatriates living in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and other Emirates. They will not be able to benefit from the Release Test.
It is a scheme that allows quarantine in England to end self-isolation through a negative test on or after day five. Persons without the right to reside in the UK (United Kingdom) who have stayed in the United Arab Emirates in the past ten days will be refused entry to the UK (United Kingdom). The government says the move is in response to new evidence pointing to the likely spread of a variant coronavirus identified in South Africa.

An airline spokesman said that the Emirates provide the most significant number of flights to and from the UAE (United Arab Emirates). As instructed by the UK (United Kingdom) Government, Emirates will suspend passenger services between Dubai and all our UK (United Kingdom) locations:
Birmingham
Glasgow
London
Manchester
Officials Statement
The officials also mentioned that they apologize for the inconvenience caused, and affected customers should contact their booking agent or the Emirates Hotline to amend their booking. Emirates continue to be committed to serving our UK (United Kingdom) customers. We look forward to resuming passenger services when conditions permit, and we will continue to work closely with all relevant authorities on this matter. A new rule will be applied to all the airlines such as British Airways cheap flights, Emirates Airlines, and etcetera.
The move appears likely to undermine confidence in continuing to travel after ministers warned against booking vacations in 2021. According to Paul Charles, who is the general manager of The PC Agency's travel consultancy, the government will need to clarify why countries are added to the high-risk list.
