Red Tourism Flights
Chengdu
Airlines launched an inaugural flight on May 11 from Chengdu, Sichuan Province,
to Zunyi, the city recognized as the Chinese Red Army's Zunyi Meeting site,
with a stopover at Jinggangshan.
The route is also the first red tourism route from Jinggangshan airport, and it is
flown by locally produced ARJ21 aircraft.
One example of airlines' initiatives to promote red tourism is passenger
engagement. Red tourism stands out among the remarkable revival of China's
domestic tourism business following the effective control of the COVID-19
epidemic.
Hainan
Airlines have stated that they will fly approximately 190 red tourism routes
this year, covering the country's most extreme places, with an average daily flying volume of roughly 300 flights and roughly 30,000 people.
China Southern
Airlines has
announced the start of personalized red tour service. The airline has
recently introduced several red tourism itineraries, including a 3-day vacation
from Shanghai to Jiaxing.
Spring
Airlines have reopened many red tourist routes, including those connecting
Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province, with Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, and Guiyang,
Guizhou Province.
The announcement by the Chinese Civil Aviation
In recently published guidelines, China's Civil Aviation Administration and Ministry of Culture and Tourism stated that:
- They will propose to speed up the construction of airports in red tourism areas
- Airlines to increase capacity
- Open more routes
- Increase flights at airports in these areas
In
2019, more than 1.4 billion people visited Red Tourism sites across China,
generating more than 400 billion yuan in revenue, according to China's National
Cultural Heritage Administration.
According
to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the number of red tourism tourists in
China would approach 100 million by 2020.
